Feeding The Hungry.

I am now in London and working with a great ministry. Twice a week we open a coffee bar for the homeless. There is a church that lets us use their kitchen and a large room, where we host these coffee bars. The coffee bars are a place where the homeless can have as many cups of coffee or tea as they would like, we also serve them a hot meal, complete with dessert. It is a safe place for them to come, and have a good meal and make some new friends.

                                        Preparing and serving a meal.
                                                  Doing the dishes.

It is a lot of work to run a coffee bar, but we do not spend all of our time working, we make sure that we all have plenty of time to get to know those that come. We want to hear their stories, and build friendships. We also share our faith with them, and help them in anyway we can.

Each person has a story to tell, each is homeless for a different reason. Some come to London looking for work and couldn't find any, they soon ran out of money and where stuck with no way of returning to their home. A few come for a vacation and had their passports stolen, they then could not leave, so they ran out of money and became homeless. Others have a mental illness, or an addiction that is the cause of their homelessness. It doesn't matter why they are homeless, they are all important to God, and all need to know and experience His love for them, and that is the heart of this ministry.

Once a month we have a birthday cake and sing happy birthday to all who have had a birthday that month. This is something that they all look forward to.
